Week 20!
I can't believe we are halfway to D-Day. The reality of becoming a mom is setting in more everyday.
This week he is about 11oz and the size of a cantalope. I can really feel him move around most days. Still no real punches or kicks but I am sure they are in my near future. He will probably end up being feisty like his daddy. :)
I have still only gained 5 1/2 lbs. According to Baby Center I should start gaining about a pound a week from here. That should put me at 25 lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight when he arrives. I can deal with that!
I am feeling pretty good these days. I don't have all my energy back, but enough to get by. The heartburn sucks, but I am learning to live with it. I wake up every morning with a smile on my face because I have the most wonderful, loving, and supportive husband AND we are one day closer to meeting our son. That makes for a great start to a day!
His crib and mattress are up thanks to his daddy. I am trying not to buy any more baby stuff until after our shower in November. I have gone a little baby stuff crazy and have bought more than I should have. I just can't resist all those cute baby clothes, blankets, etc.

19 Weeks!
Today starts Pregnancy-Week 19.
I can't believe it's going by this fast. Right now it is at least. I am sure the bigger I get and the closer we get to my due date the slower things will seem. I am trying not to rush through this and take time to enjoy the pregnancy, but it is really hard. I am so excited about meeting our little guy and my 12 weeks at home with him.
Our little guy's stats:
This week he is the size of a mango. (But a whole lot sweeter!) He is probably weighing in at about 8.5 oz. Last week at our ultrasound he was estimated at 7 oz. which is a little bigger than Baby Center was predicting. But he is right on track.
How I am feeling:
I am still tired most of the time but not as much as in my first trimester. I am actually staying up until dark these days. That's an improvement! Even though I am taking Zantac for the heartburn and indigestion that set in during the 1st trimester, I am starting to have issues with this again. I need to lay off the tomatoes and hot stuff. But it seems like that's about all I want these days.
Movement:
I am feeling him move around a little bit but haven't felt any kicks or jabs just yet. He doesn't move around a lot during the day but gets pretty active at night. That will def. have to change once he is born! Right about the time that the heartburn starts up he starts to do flips. You know the feeling you get on a roller coaster when you suddenly drop from way up high? Your stomach turns. That's what it feels like. Some nights he is more active than others. I get pretty nauseous when he is really active.
To do's:
We haven't really accomplished anything from last week's list. This has been William's week on call and it has been pretty hectic.
I did get Season 4 of Weeds though!! Itunes was having a sale on it this past weekend so William went ahead and got it for me. I have only watched one episode so far but we have a 3 day weekend coming up so I am sure I will go through most of the season then!
I have added one thing to our to do's. I am planning to call the education dept. at the hospital today to see if they offer childbirth and newborn care classes. I hope I haven't waited to long to be able to get us in. I was reading that you should sign up for these while in your 1st trimester because they fill up quickly.
My goal this weekend is to finally get the crib. I have been putting it off for long enough now. I have been looking at crib bedding for a few weeks and still haven't come across anything that I love that will go with the furniture and carpet. It's becoming very frustrating. Hopefully this weekend I will have a chance to go and do some looking around to get some ideas.

New Look
18 weeks - Our little yam!
Baby Peacock is now the size of a sweet potato! Approx. 5 1/2" long and weighing in at a whopping 7 ounces.
Updates:
*I have felt a few flutters here and there but not any major movement yet. Hopefully that will be coming soon.
*I have lost my appetite for the most part. I get hungry every few hours but never in the mood for anything. Jalapenos have been about my only craving and it's been sporadic. Meat is pretty iffy with me lately. Some days I can eat certain meats and other days all I want is vegetables. I also can't eat as much at one time as I used to. Hooray for less weight gain!! I could throw down a 12" sub from Subway in a heartbeat before I got pregnant. Now it takes effort to eat a 6". But I get a 12" anyways because a few hours later I can finish it. ;)
*I am only 2.5 lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight.
*The heartburn is finally under control. There for a while I thought my insides were going to burn up before the baby came. Marzbani put me on Zantac and I have only had a few episodes since.
*I still have lower abdominal cramps but the Dr. assured me its just because I am growing and stretching. It mainly only bothers me when I move to fast, stretch, or cough.
We are almost halfway there and I get more and more excited everyday. I am also a little overwhelmed because we still have so much stuff to do to get ready for Baby.
After tomorrow I will really be able to start planning and get a lot done because we will know if we need PINK or BLUE!
Things to do in the next few weeks:
Put down new tile in kitchen
Buy crib
Buy more maternity clothes (i am growing out of my pre-pregnancy clothes quickly)
Register for Baby items at Target
Get Season 4 of Weeds and watch before baby arrives - Very Important!
Most Important - Spend some quality time with my wonderful hubby while it's just us!
Tomorrow night I will post pics of our little yam and some belly pics too.

17 Weeks
Every week I get an update on Baby Peacock from babycenter.com and thebump.com. I love Wednesday's because of these e-mails. Below is this weeks update from Baby Center.
Baby Peacock is now the size of an onion. I love the food comparisons.
We have our mid-pregnancy ultrasound next Thursday at 4pm. As long as the little one cooperates we should find out if we are having a boy or girl and I can stop saying "it". I will also have some pictures to show!
From babycenter.com
How your baby's growing:
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.
How your life's changing:
Starting to feel a bit off balance? As your belly grows, your center of gravity changes, so you may begin to occasionally feel a little unsteady on your feet. Try to avoid situations with a high risk of falling. Wear low-heeled shoes to reduce your risk of taking a tumble; trauma to your abdomen could be dangerous for you and your baby. You'll also want to be sure to buckle up when you're in a car — keep the lap portion of the seat belt under your belly, drawn snugly across your hips, and also use the shoulder harness, which should fit snugly between your breasts. You may also notice your eyes becoming drier. Using over-the-counter lubricating drops may help. If your contact lenses become uncomfortable, try wearing them for shorter stretches of time. If you still have discomfort, switch to glasses until after you give birth.

Reading
Today is the 1st day of my 10th week of pregnancy and I have already read 3 books.
The first one that I started was "What to Expect When You're Expecting". This was very informational but not a very "fun" read. I technically haven't finished this one yet. I haven't read the labor and delivery section. I have 30 weeks to go before that time comes so I figured I would give it some time before I dove into that.
The second one was "The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy". This one was more "fun" than the 1st. This one is written by a older woman who has given birth to 4 children. The book is written from information she has gathered through her own experiences and from other women who have given birth rather than by "boring" medical professionals.
The third one (and my FAVORITE) so far was "Belly Laughs" by Jenny McCarthy. It was a really short book compared to the first 2 but so much better. I read this one in about 2 days and I was stretching it out. She gives you the real scoop as to what is going to happen. And it is incredibly funny. This is a must read whether you are pregnant or not. William even got a kick out of some of the stuff in this one.
